Admissions Criteria

Entry Requirements

The admission criteria for entry to the Cyprus Maritime Academy programmes is a High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification with an average grade of ‘15 out of 20′ (75%) or its equivalent. A concentration in Mathematics and/or Physics with an average of 15/20 is preferred.

In addition to a strong academic record, we take into account the cadet’s involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership skills, and other relevant background information especially relevant to sea experience.

Knowledge of the English Language
Cadets should present at least a TOEFL score of 500 paper-based or 173 computer-based, or TOEFL IBT with a score of at least 61, or IGCSE/GCSE “O” Level with “C”, or IELTS with a score of 6.0 and above, or Cambridge Exams (First Certificate with Grade B and above, as well as Proficiency with Grade C and above), or score placement at the ENGL-100 level of the University of Nicosia Placement Test.

Screenings

  • Medical Fitness Certificate for seafarers (based on the Regulation STCW I/9) from a doctor/medical center/ hospital approved by the Department of Merchant Shipping in Cyprus, or the relevant authority in your country of origin.
