IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Cadets,
Happy New Year!
In light of the recent order issued by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus on 30/12/2021, the Cyprus Maritime Academy (CYMA), having in mind the health of its Cadets, faculty and staff as its paramount concern, wishes to inform you of the following decisions:
Conclusion of the Fall 2021 Semester – Final Exams:
Final Exams Date: The final exams for the courses of CYMA’s academic programs will take place in the period 10/01/2022 to 29/01/2022.
Final Exams Process: The final exams for the Fall 2021 Semester will take place online making use of the Academy’s e-learning platform in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education.
Faculty members will provide Cadets with instructions on how the exams themselves will take place.
Final Exams Schedule: Faculty members will provide Cadets with their analytical final exams schedule.
Operation of the Administrative and Academic Departments of the Academy:
During this period, the administrative and academic staff of CYMA will continue to perform their duties normally but with a reduced physical presence as prescribed by the relevant order of the Ministry of Health, dated 30/12/2021.
Commencement of the Spring 2022 Semester:
The day for the commencement of course delivery for the academic programs of CYMA for the Spring 2022 Semester will be 31/01/2022.
The delivery of the theoretical courses of CYMA will take place in a blended manner (i.e. either online, or ground-based with the physical presence of students, or both) depending on the prevailing epidemiological conditions during the specific time-period.
The delivery of the laboratory courses of CYMA is expected to take place with the physical presence of the Cadets while simultaneously strictly observing all necessary health and safety measures in a similar manner to the delivery of the laboratory courses during the Fall 2020 Semester.
Cadets Outside Cyprus:
Cadets that are not in Cyprus at this time, will receive analytical instructions from their Faculty members both with respect to the process of the Fall 2021 Final Exams and also with respect to the commencement of the Spring 2022 Semester and the desired date for their return to Cyprus.
Probability for the amendment of the Academy’s decisions:
CYMA may be forced to amend the above decisions in the case where from today, and for a period during the next 4 weeks there are new (and negative) developments with regards to the pandemic, or in the case where new restrictive measures are decided by the government that affect in a material way the operations of the Academy.
For this reason, CYMA encourages its Cadets to stay in contact and respond promptly to communication with members of the faculty and to also diligently observe all announcements issued by the Academy as well as by their program coordinators. Moreover, it urges all of its Cadets to strictly maintain all health and safety protocols with respect to the pandemic.
The Cyprus Maritime Academy wishes to all of its Cadets health, happiness, progress and prosperity for the New Year 2021 as well as every success in their upcoming final exams.
